Grandparents guide to: Christmas Shopping for PreteensIs your grandkid in the preteen years? Have no idea if they've outgrown the toys ou've bought them for the past nine years? Don't no wht they are into? read this. In this age group (that's me) kids have outgrown toys for the most part. Something that you should know is that over the next few years the gifts you buy are going to get smaller and more expensive. Kids at this age will prefer things such as giftcards for the mall or their favorite stores. These are always a good choice because your grandkids can puchase what they want, so they're guaranteed to like it, but you're still the one buying it for them, therefore they have you to thank for their amazing gift. Something else that preteens are into are music players (MP3, I-pods). Although, there are some that are better than others. You don't want to get your grandkid a 1 gigabyte (gig) because those don't hold too many songs. You want to go for at least a 2 gig. Don't worry if you don't purchase the new I-pod Touch; even though your grandkid will ask for one, they're expensive. We're talking a couple hundred dollars.. I'm sure that your grandkid will appreciate unwrapping a new MP3 player or an I-tunes card.
Plus, there is one back-up gift that is guaranteed to thrill a kid at any age: cash. You can always give your grandkid cash, and it will be well used, I'll tell you that. But overall, I suggest that you ask your grandkids to write you up a Christmas Wishlist, so you know what they like individually. This makes shopping very easy to do; you just look at the list, find a budget and price check everything on the list, and head to the store.
