Gramma's Apple Crisp

This is a good one. It's a family favorite, made with apples from Meaford, but it takes a while to peel the apples. Ask Gramma or Pappa to do that part!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Apples
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Flour
  • 1/4 cup large flake oats (not quick-cook)
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 3 tbsp Butter

Instructions

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender until crumbly. Set aside.
  3. Peel and chop the apples into wedges.
  4. Put apples into a 8x8-inch pan.
  5. Spread the crumb mixture on top of the apples. Spread smoothly. Press with your hands.
  6. Bake in oven for 35 minutes at 350 F.
  7. Take out of oven and allow to cool.
  8. Dish-up! Makes a good dessert. YUMM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Notes

Also good to eat with a little bit of cream, whip cream or ice cream on top.

You can double or triple the recipe, or just the topping if it's your favorite part!
