After School Activities

If you're one of those Grandparents who look after your grandkids on pretty much a daily basis, you might want to get them involved in afterschool activities?

After school activities are always fun the the kids to be involved in, especially something such as martial arts, because they have something to work towards (the next belt level) then they have something to occupy themselves at home (learning the katas and practicing the moves).

Martial Arts, including karate, taekwondo, and kung fu and others, are individual sports, unless you're on a competition team. But some kids prefer team sports such as soccer, basketball or hockey etc. Either way it's a good way to stay active and there's usually something that fits everybody's individual criteria.

Some other suggested physical activites include dog training or agility courses, music lessons, swimming, skating, any other local kids clubs, gymnastics, yoga or even the local park with a ball and jungle gym.

Whatever your grandkid wants in an after school activity, I'm sure you can find something that they'll really get into.

For example, in April 2007, I started Karate at RMA Karate Center, a local Karate school in the neighbourhood. Karate sparked my interest because self-defense is something that all kids should know, wheather they are 3 or 15! I wanted an after school activity because I was getting bored.
